#1 Recognize that you are a sinner and in need of a Savior.
- First, you must admit your spiritual need. No one is perfect and we have all sinned. We can't make excuses or blame others and our circumstances for our actions. Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God."
- You must believe that Jesus is the Son of God and He died for your sins and He died in your place. After death, three days later He came back to life making a way for your sin to be forgiven and you to have a right relationship with God! 1 Peter 3:18 says, "For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God...."
- The word "repent" means "to change your thinking and your direction." You were once the Lord of your life, doing whatever you desired, but now you submit to God and surrender your life to Him. You must be willing to turn away from the things that displease God. The Bible tells us in Acts 3:19, "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord."
- It is essential that you come to Jesus as you are now. Don't try to "clean up your life" before you come to God. Instead, choose to follow Him and allow Him to do the "cleansing." That’s it. You surrender your life to Him, choose to follow Him and He completely changes you!
